Coco Chanel used to say; “Elegance in dress is the freedom of movement”. As I grow older, and balance the creation of my own unique style with the fast-paced ways of London-life, I am starting to understand what she meant. The times of dignified woman in elegant two-piece-dresses and hats festooned with strings of pearls may be gone, but that is not to say that the classic sense of elegance is gone too. Perhaps it is that it simply looks different now, and that is why the meaning behind Chanel’s thought may not be as obvious now.

For the longest time, all I saw were ladies running around the capital city in their tracksuits, with handbags in hand. I presume it might have appeared to them as comfortable way of living. The question is; how they dress reflect the persona they were going to take throughout the day? I am always trying to base my daily outfit decisions on the possibilities of the day ahead. Living in big metropolis like London means that we rarely have a moment to head home after work for a quick outfit change before our next appointments. As such, our dress must be adequate and stylish, but practical too: so choosing an elegant base with matching details and comfortable shoes means that we are ready for whatever the day throws at us.

Elegance is not only about pretty clothes, looked-after hair, hands and nails. It mainly comes from our behaviour; the way we move and our courtesy towards others. Our intellect, confidence and the ability to build relationships quickly and lead interesting conversation will be remembered more than what we have worn on the day. It is worth keeping that in mind to make our lives more colourful and interesting in every way that we can :)

Today’s outfit has been inspired by the style of Coco Chanel, and the formality with which she created her style - but with a contemporary outlook. The cut of the dress that I have been lucky enough to get from Zara comes from their Spring/Summer collection. It has many elements that have been inspired by the classic Chanel style. It is not surprising, then, how spectacularly popular this collection has become. Girly cuts, smart collars and hanging black bows have something magical that comes from the 30s - and consider me captivated. Even though I am in London, I can imagine moving to magical, historical Paris, where this famous designer created most of her historic work.

Coco Chanel zwykła mawiać; “Elegancja w ubiorze to swoboda ruchu”. Z upływem lat, doświadczeniem w tworzeniu własnego stylu oraz codziennym zmaganiem się z szybkim tempem mieszkania w Londynie, zaczynam rozumieć przesłanie tej tezy. Czasy dostojnych kobiet w elegankich garsonkach oraz kapeluszach obwieszone sznurami pereł uległy modernizacji, dlatego przesłanie Chanel mogło zatracić gdzieś swój bieg. Najczęstszym obrazem swojego czasu jaki widziałam były Panie odziane w dresy z torebką na ramieniu, biegajace po mieście co przypuszczam w danym momencie moglo wydawac się być najwygodniejszym strojem. Pytanie tylko; czy jego forma odzwierciedlała charakter w jakim miały spędzić ten dzień? Wybór codziennego stroju zawsze staram się uwarunkować ewentualnymi wydarzeniami, które mogą wyskoczyć mi w między czasie. Mieszkanie w dużych miastach odbiera nam możliwość szybkiego zajścia do domu po pracy w celu przebrania się przed kolejnymi spotkaniami czy wydarzeniami zaplanowanymi na dany dzień. Strój musi być adekwatny dlatego stawiając na eleganckie podstawy, stonowane dodatki oraz wygodne obuwie sprawimy, że będziemy w pełni mogły wykorzystywać każdy dzień.

Elegancja to jednak nie tylko ładne ubrania, zadbane włosy, dłonie czy paznokcie. Przede wszystkim sprowadza się ona do naszego zachowania, sposobu w jakim się poruszamy oraz grzeczności. Nasz intelekt, pewność siebie czy umiejętność nawiązywania kontaktów oraz prowadzenia ciekawych rozmów zostanie dużo bardziej zapamiętane niż to co miałyśmy na sobie. Warto o tym pamiętać i sprawić aby nasze życie stało się barwne i interesujące pod każdym względem :).

Dzisiejsza stylizacja została zainspirowana stylem Coco Chanel, formalnością z jaką tworzyła stroje aczkolwiek w trochę bardziej modernistycznym wydaniu. Fason sukienki, którą udało mi się dostać w Zarze pochodzi z ich tegorocznej kolekcji na sezon wiosna/lato. Ma ona bardzo dużo elementów znanych ze stylu w jakim projektowała Chanel dlatego nie jest dziwne, jak spektakularną popularność osiągnęła. Dziewczęce kroje, grzeczne kołnierzyki oraz kokardki rodem stylu pensjonarki mają w sobie jakąś magię pochodzącą z lat 30, która w pełni mnie urzekła. Pomimo tego, że nadal byłam w Londynie, mogłam chociaż na chwilę przenieść się oczyma wyobraźni do magicznego Paryża, miasta narodzin historii tej słynnej projektantki!
